GUAVA / JAMBU BATU (Psidium Guajava.)
Belonging to the plant family Myrtaceae, it is a native to the American Tropics, probably between Mexico and Peru. It is a smallish evergreen tree, growing to a maximum height of about 10 meters. Its branching is sparse, giving the tree a rather open, irregular shape. The bark is smooth, green to red-brown and peel off in thin flakes. Its leaves are elliptical to oblong, and covered with fine hairs on the under surface. The flowers are bi-sexual, solitary or in twos or threes. The guava fruits are roundish to oval with numerous seeds that are hard and embedded in the sweetish pulp.
