BINTANGOR BATU / BINTANGOR GASING (Calophyllum Pulcherrimum)
This bintangor tree can grow up to 33 m tall and is commonly found in Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, Sumatra & Borneo. It's opposite short stalked leaves have thin leathery leaf blades that are 3.5-9 by 1.5-3.7 cm, with many parallel secondary veins. Its petal-less flowers are borne on a 6-7 cm long slender shoot. Its fleshy fruits are ovoid-ellipsoid to almost spherical green, and up to 2 cm long. The fruits are reported to be edible but sour. The wood is used to build houses, make fishing stakes and poles. It is also used for floor planks, masts and posts.
